FAQ

Every three months is ideal if the door is being used regularly. For doors that aren’t used often, once a year to once every two years is adequate. Let us know how often your door is used and we can formulate a door maintenance plan for you.

For a typical overhead style panel garage door (and only one or two panels are in need of replacement) then most of the time, (depending on the style and manufacture date) we are able to find a matching panel, and replace only the damaged ones, and sometimes we will also need to replace the tracks, but this is often times still cheaper than buying a new door.

Often times the noise that a garage door makes can be greatly reduced by replacing the rollers with Teflon/new ones, adjusting/replacing the hinges, (there should be a small gap between the panels, but sometimes they rub together when in operation) finding other parts that are rubbing together or just need lubricated, and adjusting/oiling them. Also check the tracks they might need adjusted or replaced.

You can definitely insulate it yourself if you have some basic construction experience, by purchasing insulation panels at your local home improvement store, cutting them to fit, and glueing and or taping the them to the inside of the door.  You can also install/have installed a new door that has insulation inside. Installation tip: make sure to remove the plastic protective sheet from the foam panel, before you attache’ it to the garage door, this is easy to miss and will probably result in the insulation panel falling off the door.

10-15 years or 11000 cycles depending on the brand, and if the springs are set to the correct tension/nothing was installed incorrectly, but this is the average number from a well respected study of multiple brands and styles of doors. (the torsion springs help the garage door open with ease)

There are many studies done on this by the manufactures of many types of torsion springs, the from these studies is 10,000 cycles providing they are installed correctly.

Possible problems include, no power to the opener, bad batteries in clicker or keypad, wire to keypad is damaged, opener logic board damaged, other component of opener is damaged, door locks are engaged. (either manual or electric locks)

First make sure that there are not any objects blocking the path of the photo eyes, they are located on the bottom of the tracks. If still not working, try adjusting these sensors, they should be pointed directly at each other and both glow green when lined up correctly. If nether of these fix the issue then you probably need the photo eyes repaired/replaced. Otherwise it might be the opener is getting overloaded because one or more rollers are getting snagged in the tracks causing enough pressure to trip the safety feature of the opener, (this can be repaired) or the opener might need repaired.
